Freedom Brands
Company goes coconuts... and secures a place on shop shelves
Glasgow company Freedom Brands has successfully launched it’s Gococo Coconut Water into the retail market. The product has secured listings with Waitrose and Tesco stores up and down the country. Its award-winning healthy drinks brand is now available in 500 stores across the UK. As the food and drink industry discuss the perils of sugar-laden food and drink, the company has been in the right place at the right time, taking innovative healthy drinks to market. Owners and directors Tracey Hogarth and Dr Ross Currie have been banging the coconut drum for the past two years and it’s finally paying off. Gococo is currently exporting to 16 countries
the city, including the 65th British Science Fiction convention, the Liberal Democrats conference and it is soon to be the media host hotel for the Commonwealth Games. The awards ceremony
was hosted at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh with more than 500 guests in attendance. The theme was an ‘International Night’ that reflects the historic nature 2014 is set to have for the city with the Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup, the Year of the Homecoming and the referendum on independence.

Keppie
Grand design for Malaysian city
Architectural practice Keppie has completed the detailed design for a new £40-million sports development in Malaysia on behalf of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the Government of Malaysia’s strategic investment fund. The International Sports Village at

development pitches for various sports, including a ‘Wembley’ replica football pitch and a 10-wicket international standard cricket oval with temporary accommodation to allow viewing for 20,000 spectators. The project will start on site later this
year and is scheduled for completion in 2016. Accountancy institute becomes an SCQF-approved credit rating body
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) has become a Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF)- approved Credit Rating Body (CRB) through the SCQF Partnership. This allows ICAS to make
decisions about the SCQF level and SCQF credit points allocated to its accountancy qualifications. To become a CRB for the SCQF,
ICAS had to demonstrate that it had robust quality assurance processes and a rigorous approach
to qualifications development and credit rating. Being an SCQF-approved
CRB allows ICAS to make its own professional judgements – using tools provided by SCQF Partnership – about what level a qualification sits
at on the SCQF. Once a qualification has an SCQF level, it attracts national and international recognition for the learners who achieve it. ICAS is now one of six SCQF-
approved CRBs.
