What skills do you bring to the table/are required in your role? Twenty-six years of export experience in different types of manufacturing businesses, ranging from hot stamping foils, sportswear, medical and, latterly, Scotch whisky.
What has been your career highpoint? Working for the global travel retail markets, looking after the Middle
East and India Sub Continent for William Grant & Sons distillers.
What’s the best thing about Glasgow Chamber of Commerce? My colleagues – they are a great bunch of people.
What one thing would you wish for Glasgow in the future? For it to be the top European city of choice for new business ventures.
PERSONAL If you could host a dinner party with four guests, who would you choose (two living, two dead)? Nelson Mandela; Elvis Presley; Sandra Bullock and Barack Obama.
Name your favourite book/ film/album? Book: Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding Film: Imitation of Life starring Lana Turner Album: Rod Stewart Greatest Hits, released 12 October 1979
What is your favourite city outside the UK and why? Alicante for its breathtaking views from Santa Barbara Castle, which overlooks Alicante City. It is one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe.
What is your most humbling experience? I managed a pub for three years and organised a charity night for a little girl aged six who had lost both her legs. I raised more than £6,000 to get her mechanical limbs. A week later, flowers were delivered to my work along with a letter addressed to me from little Sophie thanking me for buying her new legs – I cried my eyes out.
What do you do to relax at the weekend? Spend time with my family and friends and enjoy a spot of gardening.
