8 . Glasgow Business March/April 2014

Second year of inspiration

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and The Herald will hold the second Inspiring City Awards to honour businesses and individuals who go ‘above and beyond’ to give back to the Glasgow community.

In this special and remarkable year for

Glasgow, we shall again seek nominations for those who contribute beyond what they do in their day job. Last year’s inaugural event was a big success with more than 280 guests coming along on the evening to celebrate contributions in a whole range of areas from corporate social responsibility through education to sport. This year, Global Radio’s Paul Cooney will host

the awards which will recognise outstanding achievements from individuals and businesses across the city. 2014 will be the most significant year in Glasgow’s history as it hosts the MTV EMA Awards, the Commonwealth Games and many events around the Ryder Cup.

The 2013 awards featured a striking

keynote address by leading entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter and were hosted by TV presenter Sally Magnusson. This year we will sing the praises of those

who too often go unsung for what they give to communities throughout the West of Scotland. Richard Muir, Deputy Chief Executive of

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are sure that the Inspiring City Awards will go from strength to strength, particularly in this massive year for Glasgow. We are delighted that the

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau with its fantastic PEOPLE MAKE GLASGOW campaign will join us again as main sponsor for this year’s event.”
