A shining beacon for renewable businesses

»Glasgow building offers space for firms focused on green energy T

he Inovo building in Glasgow aims to offer companies the opportunity to be at the

heart of the global offshore renewables sector. Funded by Scotish Enterprise,

the building forms part of a £100 million investment in the International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone (ITREZ) that bounds George Street and High Street in Glasgow. ITREZ brings together

businesses, academia and other organisations to tackle technical challenges to enable growth in the renewable energy sector. Sited immediately beside its

‘bigger brother’, the Technology and Innovation Centre, it offers 4,800 metres of Grade A office space for companies wanting to be based in an area that aims to be the leading renewable energy cluster in the world. It aims to capitalise on the fact

that Scotland has 25 per cent of Europe’s offshore wind and tidal resources. It will benefit from the more than £200 million in public funding to help achieve Scotland’s target of 100 per cent of electricity generated from renewable energy by 2020.

Glasgow 2014 Info sessions to help Glasgow get ready

Businesses and residents near Commonwealth Games venues have been learning about the impact of the Games on their area as the city prepares to host the major sporting event. A series of events are being held throughout the city for those living on the

doorstep of a Games venue or Live Zone to help them prepare for alterations to their daily routine during the Games. Representatives from

Glasgow 2014, Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland are on hand to answer questions about the

practicalities of keeping the city open for business during the 11 days of the Games from the opening ceremony on 23 July.
