Colin and Justin launch new recycling scheme

Recognition Eureka! They won » Software developer wins at Sage awards night

Celebrity designers Colin and Justin launched a new furniture recycling scheme to help tenants struggling to set up home. Wheatley Group has

introduced the service to help people renting properties with its four social landlords – Glasgow Housing Association, Cube, Loretto and West Lothian Housing Partnership. The new Home Comforts

service collects and upcycles unwanted furniture, including suites, tables and cookers and then distributes it to tenants in need.

The scheme has already

helped more than 160 tenants to furnish their new homes. The service was given a big thumbs-up by TV stars Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan at the scheme’s Glasgow shop in Maryhill.

Charity RESPONSE employees raise £15,000 for Cancer Research UK

RESPONSE, one of the UK’s leading contact centres located in Glasgow, has handed over a cheque for £15,000 to Cancer Research UK as a result of fundraising efforts over the last year. Cancer Research UK

was selected by RESPONSE employees as the company’s nominated charity. The company hoped to raise £10,000, however, a packed calendar of fundraising activity throughout 2013 has seen the original target smashed. The money raised by RESPONSE will fund vital

scientific and clinical research to help beat cancer, which is undertaken in various locations, including the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow – a thriving community of world-class cancer scientists and doctors who are working to reduce the devastating impact of this disease, not only locally, but also around the world. An exciting programme

of work has been established at the Beatson to seek out potential drug targets and develop cancer drug treatments of the future, helping millions more people to survive.
