Fun for the under 5s

Now we are well and truly in the grip of winter, keeping the under 5s entertained can be a challenge. If braving the cold isn't quite your thing then why not try something new and exciting with your youngster.

Make some music Music is a wonderfully accessible resource for you and your little one to enjoy together.

Tapping a rhythm on a saucepan, clapping along to your

favourite song or adapting the words to any well-known nursery rhyme to encourage your child to tidy up or eat their dinner will also teach the beginnings of musical concepts and it will not cost you a penny.

Attending music classes can help build on these simple

ideas and will not only teach music and movement, but also encourage your little one to interact with others, share, learn good coordination skills and gain confidence. It is also a great place to meet like-minded parents.

Get active Getting children active at an early age is important. Active Tots incorporates physical development and learning, using high energy music and specially designed play sessions that help little ones reach early learning goals around co- ordination, balance, motor skills and exploring colours and shapes and having a great deal of fun along the way.

The use of a large selection of props and sensory equipment during a range of dynamic activities keeps children interested, engaged and excited about what is coming next.

Brightly coloured bags of fun contain everything required to

encourage imagination, confidence and learning to share and work alongside each other.

Play around Indoor play is a great way to let the little ones let off steam in the cold winter months. Maidstone's newest indoor play centre, Kikiland in The Mall, Maidstone is the perfect place to take the children to run, jump, skip and slide.

Kikiland is an exciting adventure featuring an amazing volcano, a wooden pirate ship, cinema, disco, arcade, train, chillout and dressing up rooms. The centre offers a great space where children can freely explore many different creative spaces, play together in a different ways and develop their own sense of self while having great fun.
