Tradition with a twist


If you love fine food that updates the classic roast with contemporary flavours and ingredients that are a little bit out-of-the ordinary, you will love the Christmas menus offered by the following establishments.


The Hambrough, Ventnor The Hambrough,


Ventnor Head Chef Darren Beevers has put together a star-studded Christmas party menu for £38 per person, including a half bottle of wine. Gourmet treats include goose, fois gras, ham hock, pollock and local crab. The Hambrough not only offers fine dining but fine accommodation too, perched on a hill overlooking Ventnor Bay on the south coast of the Island. Their seven boutique bedrooms boast magnificent sea views and luxurious touches such as underfloor heating, flat-screen TVs and espresso coffee machines - and if you stay there on Christmas Eve, you’ll wake up to a Hambrough- prepared goodie stocking! With their special Dine and Stay package (including ferry travel) for £99 per person on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, you can make it a whole ‘night out’ and simply wander upstairs after a delicious three-course dinner.

Three Buoys,


Ryde Even in the middle of winter, Three Buoys is maximizing its beachside location to ensure diners can still enjoy the stunning views across Appley Beach. A wood-burner on the balcony will be a permanent fixture throughout the festive season, along with mulled wine and blankets for each al fresco table. Inside, the dining room can cater for private parties of up to 40 people, as well as any smaller gatherings. Alongside their regular menu, Three Buoys offer a two or three course (£18.50 or £22.50) Christmas party menu, with a glass of Prosecco to kick things off, complimentary coffee and cinnamon tarts. Seasonal classics like turkey crown and beef brisket are creatively updated with pairings of celeriac mash, garlic-sautéed chipolatas or watercress pesto. There are also delicious fish and vegetarian options and a mouthwatering choice of desserts.
