The Royal Hotel, Ventnor Traditional
For classic winter warmers, such as hearty roast dinners with all the trimmings and good, old-fashioned puddings, then we recommend one of these traditional restaurants.
The New Inn, Shalfleet The Royal Hotel,
Ventnor At Ventnor’s sumptuous Royal Hotel, you can sit back and bask in its four-star hospitality and award- winning food. The team embraces modern british cuisine, using seasonal produce from local farmers and fishermen to reflect the Island’s culinary heritage. The New Inn,
Shalfleet With its inglenook fireplaces, flagstone flooring and low-beamed ceiling, this historic 18th century inn is the perfect setting for a traditional Christmas dinner. You’ll find all the festive favourites of roast turkey and Christmas pudding here but they’ve been given the New Inn treatment by head chef Kevin Hendy, with locally sourced ingredients and tantalising gourmet flourishes. So the smoked salmon is accompanied by lemon creme-fraiche and roast artichoke hearts, macaroni cheese is made with Richard Hodgeson’s famous Gallybagger cheese and laced with truffle oil; the grilled cod meanwhile is served with a beetroot risotto and caraway seed grissini. The Christmas party menu is a very reasonable £15.95 - £20.95 for two or three courses respectively and should please traditionalists and contemporary diners alike. Alongside the extensive wine list and selection of real local ales, mulled wine and mulled cider will be served throughout December.
