» Construction company secures prestigious health and safety accolade


he Scot ish business of one of the UK’s biggest construction and services companies has recently


received the top industry accolade for its health and safety procedures for the third year in a row. Representatives of Kier collected


the Gold Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at a ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. It is the third time that Kier’s


Scot ish business has been recognised at this level, not just for its exemplary safety record but also for its approach to health and safety as a whole. Kier’s Regional Operations


Director responsible for health and safety, Roland Duncan, said: “At Kier, health and safety is of prime importance. It is top of the agenda at all our management meetings and we have very robust systems in place to ensure that every one of our staff and all on-site contractors adhere to our health and safety procedures. outgrowing its previous 3,000 sq ft Park Circus headquarters, the PR outfi t brought in Space Solutions to manage the space planning, design, fi t-out, move and project management of the delivery of over 5,200 sq ft of purpose-built prime offi ce space in the city’s Charing Cross area.


The £250,000 fi t out operation


saw Space Solutions’ designers create a contemporary workspace on the entire third fl oor of Glasgow’s Fountain House. The bespoke plan combines a


mix of fl uid, open-plan workspace areas for all 45 of the current staff and a number of hot-desking options for colleagues from the other four BIG Partnership offi ces. The new facility also includes


cellular working space, several meeting rooms and relaxed social areas.
