Abbey England – Stubbs Scraper Brush
The company says: Crafted from wrought iron and Stubbyfine coated steel, complete with heavy duty brushes. Traditional grand style makes an attractive feature outside any house door. Prevent mud and debris from entering your home with this easy to use indispensable stalwart. Large footprint of the base allows it to stand equally well on gravel or hard surfaces. RRP: around £55.00.
www.abbeyengland.com Our tester, Pam Harrison, says: This is the largest boot scraper I have ever seen. It is a well-made, practical yet attractive design that very effectively scrapes the sole of the boots on either of two strong, plastic coated metal bars and also brushes both sides of the boot. You can manage to do the front and back of your boots too, as the plastic coated frame is sturdy and includes a good ‘up and over’ handle to help you balance while you brush. The brushes are big and stiff like yard brush heads. It’s a great idea and very welcome outside our kitchen door.
Equine Speedskip – Speedskip
The company says: When removing manure from arenas, stables or paddocks the right tools for the job are essential and this bucket’s enhanced holding capacity means less trips to the wheelbarrow, while the innovative rake design makes it possible to be highly selective at removing the manure, therefore dramatically reducing the amount of bedding or arena surface removed. Also, the rake does not get tangled up in long grass and makes it easy to collect even small particles. Blue, Green, Black, Purple & Red. RRP: from £26.50. www.

Our tester, Clare Chappelhow, says: Used daily throughout the test period, to clear droppings from the lunge pen, arena and in the stable to skip out. The rake is a miniature version of a garden one, which scrapes droppings easily into the large hand held skip. This has quickly become my favourite skip as the rake is so efficient and the generous size of the skip is very useful. Due to the shorter length of handle on the rake, I found it more accurate at collecting muck, rather than the bedding or arena surface. I also found that I was using less force on the rake itself, thus resulting in less strain on my worn out body! It cleaned well using the pressure washer.
I
particularly liked the fact that the pieces slotted together easily, to keep them neat and tidy when not in use, or for carrying around. They look good too!

New Equine Wear – VelCleaner
The company says: The perfect tool for quickly removing clogged fluff and debris from velcro, to ensure fastenings stick and stay secure. RRP: around £6.00.
www.newequinewear.co.uk Our tester, Maria Phillips, says: What a handy little product, definitely one of those items you wonder how you’ve ever managed without! Nice size, and handy to keep in your pocket, so you’re never without it. I’ve used it almost daily since receiving it, as I’d never noticed before just how many hook & loop fastenings there are around the yard. So now all my boots and rugs are clear of debris. It was very effective on both for removing hay and shavings and those odd strands of twine/cotton that seem to appear from nowhere - also comes in as a handy pet grooming tool!
Shires Equestrian Products - H2GO Water Carrier
The company says: Transport 80 litres of water in a wheelbarrow! Ideal for yards and around the garden where a hosepipe or tap is not on hand. Designed with a fitted spout making it easy to pour, with an attached cap to avoid spillages. Includes a non-slip mat which sits under the bag in the wheelbarrow. Size: 80 Litre. RRP: £9.99
www.shiresequestrian.com Our tester, Rob Williams, says: This innovative product has proved to be a god-send as far as we are concerned here. With the extreme hot weather lately we have had to check the waters far more than normal. The fields away from the farm are all automatic, but the smaller paddocks nearby need to be constantly checked. It is so easy to manage, you just pop it into the wheelbarrow, fill it up and off you go. It has the added advantage of not slipping when you pour the water out hence you don’t have to lift heavy water containers. We have certainly used this great product on a daily basis and have found it to be very labour saving.
