As Clyde Marine Services nears a century in business, it prepares to help visitors to the city see Glasgow from a different angle – from the water itself


N


ot many businesses can claim to have been in operation for 100 years, but in a few months’ time, Hamish Munro at Clyde Marine


Services will be able to say just that. In fact, aside from merely still being in business, Hamish’s company is continuing to expand, diversifying its overall activity and eagerly looking forward to the opportunities presented by the Commonwealth Games in 2014. “Glasgow was built around the Clyde, so


we’re giving locals and visitors to the Games the chance to experience the city from a totally different perspective by sailing on the river, to experience the history which surrounds it.” For the last three years, one of Clyde Marine’s sister companies, Clyde Cruises, has been providing a regular riverbus service, sailing between the city centre and Braehead, making stops at the Science Centre and the Riverside Museum along the way. “Many Glaswegians have lived in the city all their lives but never
