Dunblane’s Fun-Raisers celebrate with a weekend of parties...

It’s an exciting time in Dunblane but none more so than last weekend. Friday night saw Dunblane’s Youth FUNdraisers launching their fi rst event, ‘Help for Heroes’ Spring Dance in the Victoria Hall. Around 150 Dunblane High School teenagers danced the night away and raising over £800 for the UK military charity. The organising and promoting of the event was the work of a small enthusiastic and hardworking group of teenagers with the support of their adult counterparts, Dunblane’s Big Fat Fun(d)raisers.

The next morning was all about preparations for Saturday night with the hairdressing students at Forth Valley College donating their time to do wedding hair and raising £190. The brides also had Glamournique donating wonderful nails and lashes for charity.

Saturday night saw the second sell out, Dunblane Big Fat Wedding. By blinging up the brides dresses and grooms, guests of this greatly anticipated event once again raised invaluable funds and publicity for their chosen charity, Funding Neuro. This Scottish based charity strives to raise awareness and fund research into the causes, treatment and cure of Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions.

Both events were the result of many months of hard work however neither would have been such a success without the much appreciated support of

those who attended and local business for their generous donations. Thanks must also go to Bob Dale Photography and Stevie Hodge for stepping in to help at the last minute and getting some fantastic shots of both nights. Well over £3000 has been raised so far but money is still coming in! Information on both charity groups and forthcoming events can be found on our Facebook pages.
