TECHNOLOGY / THE ARC SHOW @ MAY DESIGN SERIES

ERCO • Quadra

ERCO will be exhibiting at a UK exhibition for the very first time this May and one of its star performers will be the Quadra downlight. This combination of econom- ic ambient light, striking design and particularly shallow recess depth makes the Quadra a unique luminaire. The Quadra is an ideal lighting tool for promotional areas in shops or administrative buildings, where economical solutions and bril- liance are required for the illumination of merchandise, objects and material. www.erco.com / Stand Q50

Paul James explains an exciting new offering for architectural and decorative lighting specification as The ARC Show joins the May Design Series at London ExCeL, the UK capital’s only commercial design event.

MAY DESIGN BE WITH YOU!

When UBM, organisers of The ARC Show and a host of other design events, approached mondo*arc to become consultants and editors of the lighting specification offering of the May Design Series, we were only too happy to accept. I had felt for some time that there wasn’t an event in the UK truly targeted at architectural and decorative lighting specification. It is true that The ARC Show was a victim of its own success. By being the only lighting show in the UK and therefore the vessel for all kinds of com- panies with ‘Lighting’ in their name, the original ideal of The ARC Show as a design show for lighting had become somewhat diluted. There were too many companies whose target audience was the contractor or the wholesaler. Too many component and amenity lighting companies as it was the only lighting show to exhibit at. Now, with other offerings for this market in the UK, it has given The ARC Show the chance to

concentrate on what it and mondo*arc (and darc, our new design magazine) is good at - high end specification for the architectural, retail and decorative markets. In order to attract the best architects, designers, retailers and developers, The ARC Show has joined forces with May Design Series, London’s only large scale commer- cial design event. This will take place at ExCeL, the purpose built exhibition venue in East London on May 19-21. May Design Series consists of four ‘cityscapes’ created by renowned designer Ab Rogers who’s work can be seen at Tate Modern, Pompidou Cen- tre and the Science Museum: The ARC Show will be showing the best in high end architectural and decorative lighting specification and is firmly aimed at lighting specifiers including architects, interior designers, lighting designers and retailers. DX will bring together the very best cut-

ting-edge products, ideas and solutions for specification, contract and domestic interi- ors from across the globe. Interiors Ldn is the high end interior design, London version of the Birmingham event targeted at specifiers for interna- tional projects including architects, interior designers, hoteliers and hospitality opera- tors.

kbb Ldn is the capital’s only trade exhibi- tion dedicated to kitchen, bedroom and bathroom specification with the industry’s leading suppliers showcasing highly innova- tive designs and solutions. A more detailed preview will be available in our next issue (Apr/May) when exhibitors have finalised the products they will display and the full design seminar programme will be published, but keep checking the web- site for further updates. www.thearcshow.com www.maydesignseries.com
