New Scottish headquarters for Steelcase reflects rapid growth

Facility named Best Small Venue in UK

IET Glasgow: Teacher Building The IET Glasgow: Teacher Building has won the award for Best Small Venue/Hotel at the 2012 UK Event Awards. The nationwide competition recognises improvements by venues in the UK which have improved client needs and demonstrated a successful return on investment. In winning the award, IET Glasgow:

Teacher Building successfully met the judges’ objectives and notably impressed the panel with the venue’s green credentials, having demonstrated a three-year programme of environmental improvement. Recent green measures included cutting gas and electric usage by 15 per cent, obtaining Carbon Neutral Status and installing high-speed dedicated lines to encourage international delegates to use video-conferencing. “We’re delighted to have scooped

the award for ‘Best Small Hotel/Venue’ particularly as we’ve really focused on making both our venue and our customers’ event experience more environmentally friendly,” said Justin Livesey, Venue Manager, IET Glasgow: Teacher Building.

Office interiors Steelcase Solutions, the UK’s leading specialists in workplace interiors, recently opened its new Scottish headquarters to reflect the growing investment by major companies in their office environments. Over the last year, in particular,

there has been increasing evidence of companies substantially improving their offices in Scotland. During this period, Steelcase Solutions has won contracts with BP (Grangemouth), Exxon Mobil and Chevron (Aberdeen), HSBC and Hilton Worldwide (Glasgow), RBS and Lloyds Banking Group (Edinburgh) and Cigna (Greenock). Most recently, a major contract has been secured to provide products and services to ScottishPower at its Glasgow headquarters. Lawrence Morison, Managing

Director of Steelcase Solutions UK, said: “The fact that we are now seeing more companies investing heavily in their real estate adds weight to the evidence that confidence is returning to the business community in Scotland. “While we are realistic about

progress and the economic climate remains tough, there is reason for

optimism and we as a company want to be part of that. We have enjoyed substantial and rapid growth in the last three years in Scotland and this has given us an excellent platform to establish new flagship premises.” The new Steelcase Solutions

HQ is in West Regent Street, Glasgow.
