2013 Stampede Queen and Princesses are Crowned
Calgary - On September 30th, in a beautiful ceremony, the 2013 Stampede Queen and Princesses were crowned. Surrounded by friends, family, Stampede employees and volunteers Jessica Williams, Danielle Kakoschke and Catherine Morneau received their 2013 titles.
JESSICA WILLIAMS - 2013 Stampede Queen Jessica is 21 and lives just outside of Okotoks. She is originally from Arrowwood, Alberta and currently works as a dental assistant in High River. She spends most of her free time riding horses, going on hikes with her family, and camping in the mountains. Jessica is a self-proclaimed “true farm girl” and owns a Quarter Horse named Woody.
DANIELLE KAKOSCHKE - 2013 Stampede Princess
Danielle is 21 and lives in Calgary, though she is originally from Okotoks. Danielle attends the University of Calgary as a Law and Society major with the goal of attaining her Human Resources Management certificate to complement her education. Danielle spends her free time competing in reining and ranch cutting with her horses and volunteering.
CATHERINE MORNEAU - 2013 Stampede Princess Catherine is 22 and lives at Rafter Six Ranch in Exshaw, though she is originally from Saint-Bruno-de-

The Stampede Royalty act as official ambassadors of the Stampede by promoting western heritage and val- ues within the community and around the world. The winning three contestants must embody the Stampede values of integrity, pride of place, western hospitality and commitment to community.

Each year, the Calgary Stampede Indian Events committee selects a young woman from one of the five Tribes of Treaty 7 (Tsuu T’ina, Piikani, Stoney, Kainai and Siksika Nations) to stand as the official representa- tive of Indian Village presented by Penn West Explo- ration. As an official Calgary Stampede ambassador, the Indian Princess will make over 350 appearances and will educate those she meets about the rich and colourful First Nations culture.
The Indian Princess is a positive youth role model who represents the Indian Village and the tribes of Treaty 7. Along with the Calgary Stampede Queen and Princesses, the Stampede Royalty promote the Calgary Stampede and the city of Calgary to the world.
