Ontario Quarter Horse Association Inc. Proposed By-Law Changes for February 2013


This is a notice of the pro- posed by-law changes that will be voted on at the 2013 OQHA Annual General Meeting being held on January 19th, 2013 at the Holiday Inn, 601 Scottsdale Drive, Guelph, Ontario. The OQHA general membership has the opportunity to have their voice heard. Please be sure to attend and make a difference in our association!


By-Law Additions: Rule:


Directors – Section 2: Qualifi- cation


Only Members in good standing will be eligible to be Directors, the Member must hold a valid individual membership in the Company and must have reached his/or her nineteenth (l9th) birthday by January 1st of the Director year. For this pur- pose, a family membership is deemed the same as an individ- ual membership. Each Director must be a Member in good standing of their respective area promotional club, should one exist.


Addition to the above rule: All Directors will be required to


sign a confidentiality agree- ment. Any directors involved with the Youth must authorize a criminal background check as required by law.

Directors - Section 6: Direc- tors meetings


Addition to the above rule: Directors meetings may be held at any place with no formal notice. Conference calls will be considered acceptable for direc- tors meetings.

Directors - Section 6: VOT- ING – At a meeting of the Board of Directors, each Direc- tor present shall have one (1) vote on every question, and in the case of an equality of votes, the Chairman of the meeting shall have a casting vote.


Addition to the above rule: Online or E-mail voting will be used in circumstances where an issue needs resolution prior to the next Board of Directors of Directors meeting. At the next meeting, the online vote shall be entered into the minutes by the Secretary.

HIGH POINT AWARDS There will be a Grand Champi- on and Reserve Grand Champi- on (Halter) for Stallion, Mare, and Gelding.


High Point Performance Cham- pion and Reserve High Point Performance Champion Points must be earned in a minimum of two (2) classes.

Drug Testing Fee: A drug-test- ing fee of $2.00 per horse/per entry is required for all shows, including the OQHBF.

QUEEN CONTEST: A Queen contest will be held every year and the winner of the contest will represent OQHA at the All American Quarter Horse Congress.

Longe Line Rules: The Rules of the Class are as follows:

OQHA will follow the current NSBA Handbook with regard to Longe Line class rules


Rule:


OQHA Promotional Clubs: Area boundary lines are to be as established by the current OQHA Constitution. All people in joint ownership of a horse must reside in the same Promo- tional Club in order to receive Year End awards of that club. Members of Promotional Clubs shall be encouraged to be mem- bers of the OQHA, however, they shall not be required to be members. Directors of Promo- tional Clubs must be members of the OQHA. To be recog- nized, each Promotional Club must abide by the Constitution of the OQHA (where applica- ble). Any OQHA show may be approved for points by two Pro- motional Clubs providing approval is granted by both Pro- motional clubs involved. Each Promotional Club is responsible for acquiring and tabulating its own points. It is recommended that should the exhibitor and/or owner of a horse reside in an
