The radio show dedicated to Cana- da’s horse talk, hoofbeats radio, is near- ing its 100th episode. The anniversary program will happen shortly after the Royal Winter Fair! Have you herd? If you have missed the Sunday morning 9am shows in the Guelph broadcast area on 93.3fm, past episodes can be found world-wide, anytime: on-line at cfru.ca (choose the program schedule, hoof- beats, archive).

Founded at the University of Guelph, hoofbeats will be participating in the campus/community station’s annual fundraising drive. CFRU’s

“Raise Your Voice!” programming will see hoofbeats radio doing its first live to air broadcast from the Guelph Farmer’s Market on Saturday October 20th, 11am. Do you eat horse meat? Would you? This is the intended survey ques- tion to be put to the public during this special show. A horse talk show hosted by musicians, hoofbeats radio is pleased to see former/founding Blue Rodeo member Bob Wiseman has already started debating the horse meat issue with others on the Facebook post about the program. A surprise guest is also invited that day for a special live musi-

cal performance! Don’t miss it. “We are thrilled to participate in this year’s fundraising agenda, we want to help the station to make a bigger impact on the community.” says Kim Logue, host and producer. “We’d like to buy more recorders, more equipment to help us do live-to-air remote broadcasts, maybe build a portable “speakers’ cor- ner.” It’s never to late to act on the opportunity for the equine community to give back to the station for all of the great equestrian programming over the years. Horse people are encouraged to get in touch to outreach@cfru.ca or

hoofbeats.radio@gmail.com to learn how to make a contribution. Other upcoming 2012 feature shows are to explore:

Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning, Wind Dancer Pony Rescue Foundation, Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), and the making of ‘Chasing Canada’ (a film documentary about one woman, one horse and 6,000km of Canada to cross) which is airing on CBC.

Tune in each week for interesting and inspiring stories and reports from Canadian Equestrian culture!
