President’s Message
Wow, this Summer has just flown by, and here we are with even the year-end awards banquet behind us.
It has been great to see so many new members this year, and I have enjoyed meet- ing you and I hope you have enjoyed your first experience with the Ontario Reining Horse Association, and will be back next year.
Our final event of the show season was of course our Grand Finale in London, which this year also included the Regional Affiliate Finals, and we were pleased to host our friends from Quebec for that. This event was live webcast this year, and we had an indoor warmup pen, which made everything so much easier and more comfortable. A special thanks to ORHA Director and First Vice President, Mike Munroe, who was once again Show Manager and lead on the Grand Finale show. He does such a magnif- icent job each year of organising and run- ning the show, along with his daughter, Sam. Berenice Fletcher and her daughter, Jenny, also deserve a big thank you for their work running the show office, and of course also Allan Barnes for being such a terrific announcer. Anne Pearse spent most of the weekend scribing, and I tip my hat to her for her work on that, she did a wonderful job. The Youth Association drew the win-

ning tickets for their raffle at the Grand Finale, and Mike Cvetjkovich was the lucky winner of the beautiful framed picture donated by Taylor Mariani, with Kathy Wilkinson winning the $50 Keg gift card and Don Ratcliffe taking home the Keurig coffee machine. Congrats to each of you. The show was a great success and all ran smoothly, with Jamie Boller from NRHA joining us to present the Affiliate prizes. The highlights were the Sired Stakes Futurity on Saturday and 2 year old class on Sunday, with some very impressive horses taking part. Saturday evening featured a pizza party and a Funstyle class, which was won by Sarah Learn.
And I am delighted to announce that NRHA recently awarded the Ontario Rein- ing Horse Association hosting privileges for the 2013 and 2014 Regional Affiliate Finals, so that is very exciting news. We will be looking for sponsors and manpower to make sure those shows are as successful as they can be.
I hope you have all had a wonderful year and I look forward to seeing you at the Annual General Meeting on February 10 in Guelph.
Safe sliding. Carol Sired Stakes Derby
At the end of the day, Tim Stanton clinched both Champion and Reserve in the Open, when he tied with himself on two
horses, Guns Sparkle Plenty and Cutie Gun. In the Non-Pro, Chad Thomas won the NRHA Level 4 on Smart and Spicey, and Don Pletch won his first ever buckle in the Limited Non-Pro on Conquistadors Fox. Congratulations to each of you.

This year’s OBBO 2 year old class in London was large enough that it needed two go-arounds to get all the great young horses in the pen. For the second year in a row, the Champion was an offspring of the great stallion Wimpys Tin- seltown, out of Cee Little Star. The red dun gelding, Cee Lit- tle Wimp, owned by Dan and Berenice Fletcher, was ridden by Robin Storey and he went to the top of the field in each go- around to take the ultimate Champion spot. Some of the ter- rific prizes won were a Continental saddle from Ionson Sad- dlery, a Tom Howe buckle, an OBBO vest, and a win pic- ture donated by River Bend design, in addi- tion to a cheque for $735.

Fletcher’s Show
John and Sharon were once again fabulous hosts for their end of July show, offering a pizza night Fri- day and the traditional barbecue Saturday night. Highlights of the weekend were the Derby and the Freestyle events.
The winners of the Derby classes were:
• Non Pro - Larry McDougall • Non Pro Level 1 - Melia Blakely • Open - Heather Vaughn • Open, Level 1 - Heather Vaughn
all immensely entertaining, with Jesse Pecore win- ning the non-pro and Heather Vaughn the Open. There were a number of entries in the freestyle,
In spite of some much needed rain the day before, the weather turned hot for the remainder of the weekend, and it was another well-attended and successful show, with special thanks to Berenice Fletcher for her superb job in running the show office.
