L2 LEVEL 2 SECRETARIAL


COURSE LENGTH: 1 year (based on 3 days a week at College).

4 GCSE’s at A* – C including English Language or equivalent.


Internal assessment of all ILEX units plus one externally set and marked examination.


General Secretarial Units:  Working in an office, all aspects that you will need to function in an office.


 Managing information, using spreadsheets, databases and word processing.


 Document layout including business letters, memos and templates.


In addition you will study legal secretarial units which will support you finding work in solicitors offices, government, police or similar organisations that require a knowledge of legal process and function.  Legal text production (including proof-reading and audio).


 Working in the legal environment.


 Information processing in the legal environment (databases and spreadsheets).


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS STUDIED:


OCR Award in Text Processing at Level 2, Functional Skills at an appropriate Level.


Progression: Level 3 ILEX course or employment as an administrator or secretary in many different types of industries such as human resources, project management or Level 2 apprenticeship.


PROGRESSION:


Level 3 (ILEX) legal secretarial course or employment as an administrator / secretary.


L3 LEVEL 3 SECRETARIAL


COURSE LENGTH: 1 year (based on 3 days a week at College).

Internal assessment of all ILEX units plus one external examination.


General Secretarial Units – in addition to the ones mentioned for level 2 secretarial:  Working in an office, all aspects that you will need to function in an office.


 Managing information, using spreadsheets, databases and word.


 Document layout including business letters, memos and templates.


 Specific projects and research.  Team building exercises.  Training to be involved in decision- making processes.


In addition you will study legal secretarial units that will support you finding work in solicitors offices, government, police or similar organisations that require a knowledge of legal process and function.  Advanced legal text production (including proof-reading and audio).


 Business skills in the legal environment.


 Advanced information processing in the legal environment (database, spreadsheet and integration of applications).


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS STUDIED:


PROGRESSION:


Award in Text Processing at Level 3, Functional Skills at an appropriate level.


Employment as an administrator, PA/ Secretary, Junior Clerk in Chambers, and many professions including those in the legal environment.
