All students will be required to have a personal reference from placement, work experience, etc. This will assess your suitability for a role within the Health and Social Care professions.
Level 2 & 3 courses require a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check (currently £50.00) and references.
All Health and Social Care Courses are mapped to the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework
L1 LEVEL 1 DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE PROGRESSION: COURSE LENGTH: 1 year
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
4 GCSEs grades E – G or above including English Language or equivalent. Screening for literacy and numeracy to achieve a minimum of Entry 3.
ASSESSMENT:
EXAMPLES OF UNITS STUDIED
Coursework and practical applications.
Investigating rights and responsibilities at work.
Health and social care needs. Promoting healthy eating. Communication with adults and children.
PROGRESSION:
Level 2 courses, subject to a satisfactory interview and reference.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

EXAMPLES OF UNITS STUDIED
COURSE LENGTH: 1 year
4 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English Language or equivalent OR Pass at an appropriate Level 1 programme.
Coursework and practical application of theory within placement.
Communication and individual rights within the health and social care sector.
Individual needs. Cultural diversity in health and social care.
Anatomy and physiology. The impact of diet on health. Health and social care services.
Progress onto Level 3 courses or employment.
L3 LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
COURSE LENGTH: 2 years
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
5 GCSEs at grade A* - C including English Language OR Distinction at an appropriate Level 2 Diploma including English Language at grade A* – C.
ASSESSMENT:
Coursework and practical applications of theory within
placement.There is a placement requirement of 100 hours in total.
EXAMPLES OF UNITS STUDIED
Physiology and counselling skills. Equality and diversity. Development through the life stages.
Psychological and sociological perspectives.
PROGRESSION: Higher Education or employment.
