The Wimmera – Everything You Need
In August 2011, a new regional branding initiative “The Wimmera – Everything You Need” was launched at a special event at Wesley Performing Arts Centre in Horsham.
Goal 2 –
Sustaining our Economy and Environment
Lead in sustainable growth and development whilst preserving the natural environment
“The Wimmera – Everything You Need” branding is an initiative of the Wimmera Development Association, made possible by funding from the Department of Planning and Community Development. Wimmera Development Association helps to set priorities for economic growth in the region. One of their top priorities is to attract new residents, help businesses to expand and ensure the image of the Wimmera refl ects all the wonderful opportunities available.
Development of the new brand was based on research into the perceptions of the region, from within the region, and from metropolitan Melbourne. Focus groups identifi ed a range of issues aff ecting the liveability and investment potential of the region, including diff erent perspectives and gaps in information.
A website (
www.thewimmera.com.au) has been developed as an information hub publishing regional facts and data targeting investment attraction and people considering the move to regional Victoria for work and lifestyle reasons. The website contains quality information to promote the region including links to relevant regional information, fact sheets and case studies.
Under the banner of “The Wimmera – Everything You Need”, Wimmera Councils attended the Victorian Regional Living Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in April 2012 to promote living, working and investing in regional areas to metropolitan people. Information was provided about employment and business investment, real estate, education and health services. Thumb drives containing information about the region, Councils, businesses and communities were distributed to interested people at the expo.
