Dance


The Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with Revolution Dance to offer professional, quality dance instruction. Our goal is to provide participants with a positive dance experience in a creative and fun environment. The last day of class we will hold a class presentation for the parents family and friends. (13 classes) No class 11/21, 11/22, 11/23.

Wiggle and Giggles A creative movement class for children ages 18 months - 3 years old with a parent. Dancers will fill 45 minutes of fun with singing songs, using props, stretching, jumping, running, learning listening skills, developing friendships, all while exploring the world of dance. A different theme will be covered each session. Dancers and parents should where comfortable clothing they can easily move in (no jeans), ballet shoes are recommended but not required, clean socks will be fine.


Tiny Tutus A beginning combination dance class for our youngest dancers, ages 3 and 4, without a parent. This class is designed for dancers who are new to dance. Participants must be potty trained. Dancers will enjoy an hour class in which the subjects of ballet, tap, and tumbling will be taught. An emphasis will be placed on learning basic dance skills, listening skills, and terminology while having fun. Dancers will use poms, lummi sticks, tambourines, parachutes, tumbling mats, scarves, and much more!


Preschool Performers An hour long combination dance class de- signed for 4 and 5 year olds who have had previous dance experience or are in their final year of preschool. The class will include instruction in ballet, tap, and tumbling. Dancers will learn basic dance skills while having fun. The use of props, singing songs, following directions, developing listening skills, and building character will allow dancers to enjoy learning dance in a fun environment.


Kinder Cuties An hour long combination class for dancers who are in Kindergarten (ages 5 and 6). The class will cover ballet, tap and tum- bling. Kinder cuties will continue to build off of previous skills learned and continue to add new ones. Dancers will use the barre and center floor to learn skills.

Bop ‘N Hop Bop ‘N Hop- an introduction to hip hop for dancers ages 5 - 8. Dancers will learn new and cool moves to today’s upbeat music for kids.


Combo Level 1 An hour long combination class for dancers ages 6 - 8 (this class is also suitable for dancers ages 9 - 11 with no previous dance experience), covering ballet, tap, and jazz.


Combo Level 2 An hour long combination class for dancers ages 9 - 11 with previous experience, covering ballet, tap, and jazz.


Hip Hop 1 Dancers will learn the latest dance moves as well as work on rhythm skills, developing character and attitude while you dance, turns, jumps, and much more.


Lyrical/Contemporary This class mixes ballet and jazz technique and emphasizes dancing with feeling and listening to lyrics.


REQUIRED DANCE ATTIRE


• Tiny Tutus, Preschool Performers, Combo Classes — Girls: black leotard, pink tights, black patent leather tap shoes, pink ballet slippers, tan jazz shoes. (Please do not purchase the sleepwear ballet slipper, these are not appropriate for class.) Boys: white t-shirt, black sweatpants, black tap shoes, black ballet slipper, black jazz shoe.


• Hip Hop —t-shirt, sweat pants, jazz pants, shorts. A jazz or hip hop sneaker is needed for this class. No jeans or khakis, even the stretchy kind.


• Other over dancewear, such as skirts, tutus, sweaters, and shorts, may be worn, but at teacher discretion. Remember soffee cheerleading shorts or boxers are not dance shorts. Proper uniform is required so the instructors can make corrections and see proper alignment and placement.


• Hair —should be pulled back off of face; a ponytail or bun works best for this.


• New and used shoes, tights, leotards, and other dance apparel are available for purchase through Revolution Dance


• Only dance shoes are allowed on the dance floor. Time
