8vo. original crimson grained cloth elaborately panelled in black and gilt to upper board and in black to lower cover, spine intricately decorated in gilt; pp. [viii] + 118 + [ii]; with 8 engraved plates by A.c. Johns, A.W. copper and W.G. Leather together with vignettes by otto Speckter; binding a little dust-soiled with some rubbing to spine ends, joints, and corner tips, minute wear to spine extremities; internally clean with a couple of upper corners turned and some offset browning to recto of frontispiece.


First edition in English of this collection of Andersen’s tales, including: “The Toad”; “Peter, Peterkin, and Perkin” and “Godfather’s Picture Book” translated from the original Danish by caroline Peachey, Augusta Plesner and harry Leigh Douglas Ward.
