Teulada – Moraira Lions Club Have a Roaring Rastro Return
On 20th May many members of the Teulada-Moraira Lions Club could be found selling donated items at the Teulada Rastro. Hundreds of items given to the club were sold, with bargain hunters galore crowding the stall. Everything had to go, and all of it went, raising a handsome profit of 605€ which will go to helping local needs.
Over 1000 distribution points!

This photograph shows some members enjoying a cold drink while waiting for our meal at Font Roca. Earlier, we had spent time in Alcoy at Serpis, the olive museum and factory learning about the filling of olives, together with samples! The coach ride up to Font Roca was amazing with hair pin bends and stunning views over Alcoy driving through delightful forests. After dinner we went back into Alcoy to visit the museum of the Moors and Christians. All in all our day packed with interest was great and we arrived back at the Casa de Cultura on schedule.

Judith Goodall, President of Help of Denia and Marina Alta was delighted to accept a HeartStart Defibrillator recently from Gillian Rose, President of the Roundabout Charity shop in Jávea, (both pictured) with some of the shop volunteers. Judith explained that a number of people, not always in good health, regularly visit the HELP Centre in La Xara for their ever popular Luncheon Club on Mondays as well as coffee mornings and other social activities. She hoped that the generously donated gift would never have to be used, but if someone suddenly collapsed and did not respond when shaken and was not breathing, this piece of equipment could be used to treat the most common causes of such an emergency happening. She went on to say that survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest are directly related to how soon victims receive treatment and for every minute of delay the chance of survival declines by 7% to 10%, so to have this piece of equipment and trained volunteers at hand could benefit a lot of people in La Xara. Although the equipment is not difficult to operate, Judith will be ensuring that full training is given to the volunteer helpers and admin staff, at the Centre where the HeartStart defibrillator will be located.
