Female Focus - now in our 19th year! MABS cancer support group needs people.
It is a sad fact but the number of people that are being touched by cancer in Spain is increasing, particularly amongst the expat community. As this causes our membership to grow we are struggling to cope with the demand for our services. (People that we help who have cancer become members of our group)
We shall be publishing examples of the work we do and the backgrounds of the people that work with us. We are hoping that this will give the public better insight in to the task we face and how we use the money donated to us. In the meantime please take a look at
www.mabscancersupport.org We are very indebted to everybody who helps us financially but now we need people; people with a little time to spare. Could you fit into any of these roles?
* Supporters. These are the people who work directly with our members; volunteers for this role must have had cancer themselves. (Particularly needed in Javea, Moraira, Torrevieja and Orihuela. German speaking supporters are very much needed in Costa Blanca North).
* Buddies. Have you got a little spare time to visit our members for a chat, do some shopping, collect a prescription or any of the other every day chores that maybe they can’t do for themselves?
* German speaking people for helping with translation in the Costa Blanca area.
* Drivers. Our drivers transport those of our members that are too ill to drive to hospital, or clinics, for the treatments they need. (We pay expenses)
* Volunteers to help in our shops in all areas of the Costa Blanca. * Web site. We are looking for support to our web master so that he can occasionally go on holiday, or get flu, or anything else he wants to do. Clearly IT literacy is essential. (This is only a very part time role).
