A

n increased visitor attendance and widespread industry approval for the number

of new products on show lifted SPATEX 2012 to its highest level of success for a number of years. The industry owned three day event in Brighton earned praise for the innovations and new products on display.

Feedback from exhibitors was that the show picked up on the enthusiasm and optimism expressed by many visitors about improved trading conditions.

It was the 16th consecutive specialist pool and spa exhibition

and was set against an industry which is still looking for consistent signs of business recovery after five tough years.

New innovations were introduced such as a wellness area but it was the record number of new products which proved again to be the key to what attracted and impressed visitors. “I’ve come to SPATEX and I see a lot of new things,” said pool builder Peter Gella from West Country Pools.

“Pool building is down. But what we forget is that there are a lot of pools already built and a lot of people are looking for the chance to enjoy them more and that means ways of cutting running costs and adding a different look and feel to their pools. It’s about new things, I’ve seen a lot of things here I wouldn’t have known about staying at home.” Show organiser, Michele Bridle says: “SPATEX this year has proved an exceptional foundation and launch pad for future exhibitions. Planning has already begun on how to make 2013 brighter, bigger and better. Companies can take advantage of very attractive rates by booking now for 2013.” Exhibitors echoed the view about a successful industry event. Kevin Sanger of Elite Spas said: “We are great supporters of SPATEX and this

year has been good for us. We see lots of customers and we work hard at the show seeing our dealers and getting the message about what we do out there.”

Neil Dalziel of Aquaflex Ltd who visited on the Monday of the show said: “The weather almost convinced us not to attend and we know it did deter others but I am pleased that we made the effort. We were able to talk with our own suppliers as well as customers, overall it was a worthwhile visit.” Dolf Nieland from Passion Spas making a third visit to the show said: “It’s important for us to back up the work we have put into the
