BARRY AND PAULA MCCABE CERTAINLY WORK HARD AT GETTING NOTICED

The husband and wife partnership who run Oyster Pools & Leisure from Monmouthshire took the coveted BISHTA award for Britain’s best showroom. It was the second year running the popular couple have won the award. The BISHTA award judges said: “The floral displays, cared for by their own gardener, unfailingly turn heads and attract praise. The arrangements give the premises a natural feel – this enables the customers to see what the product will look like in their own properties.” Oyster Managing Director Barry said: “We never stand still. I think that is the secret. We are always trying to do something new and fresh and keep our customers happy. We have built it up over the years, learning lessons. We’ve been able to see what customers want, what they like and don’t like. We couldn’t do it all in one go.” The Oyster business has been based near the historic village of Raglan for the past 30 years and the half acre showroom site has become a centre of style and excellence for pools and has the biggest display of hot tubs in south Wales and much of the south west.

The showroom is open seven days a week throughout the year.

Says Paula: “It’s always been a family business and that’s why we set ourselves such high standards. A lot of our business is about look and presentation. We want customers to look at the products and think ‘wow’ and then come back. “It’s also great fun,” she adds.

Oyster are members of both SPATA and BISHTA and founding members of the National Leisure Group.

The runner up for the best showroom award went to Hydropool Hot Tubs for its new south coast showroom.
