add a video projector in the future.” The main loudspeaker system consists of four RCF Acustica C5215-Ws with flying frames and four RCF Acustica S8018 18- inch subwoofers, plus three RCF 4PRO3002-SMA active 12-inch speakers for foldback. The RCF Acustica C5215-Ws are powered by two Yamaha P5000 amplifiers, while one Yamaha P7000 amplifier takes care of the sub bass. To provide extra flexible routing Darren also specified an Allen & Heath IDR8 DSP based 16x16 matrix mixer. Darren said: “As always, we specify audio components that meet two criteria: that they are the right choice of equipment in terms of performance and quality for the individual project, and that they fit the available budget. RCF loudspeakers were the perfect choice on both counts for this application.” A digital Roland M400 V-Mixer was chosen for production mixing, along with two Roland 1608 REAC (Roland Ethernet Audio Communication) devices to transfer audio from the mic pre-amps on stage to the mixing console. Darren explained why he selected the Roland desk: “The system’s benefits include superb sound quality, quick and easy installation and setup, intuitive and easy operation and support for advanced integration applications - all plus points for this project, allied to good value for money.” Arguably the main challenge was presented by the shape of the building and the fact that Cultural Space is located on the lower level meaning sloping walls had to be factored into the design. To light the challenging space - that does not have a single straight wall - Darren opted to use a fan-shaped lighting grid. The lighting rig comprises two Qmaxz QS250S 250W Spot moving heads and three Qmaxz QS250W 250W Wash moving heads, along with 27 Philips Selecon fixtures and 12 ETC Source Four profiles. For control, Darren looked to Avolites and specified a Pearl Tiger console, while dimming needs are looked after by Zero 88 Chilli dimmers. Darren said: “We chose the Qmaxz QS250W 250W wash lights as offering a nuanced balance of performance capabilities

matched the environment, both acoustically and aesthetically.”
