“Chromlech’s Jarag 5 is a fantastic light projector and is very well manu- factured, it also brings that warm feeling with the halogen source, which perfectly balance the cold- ness of LEDs.”

dancefloor with special effects lighting. The moonflower effect produced by the Quad Phases is created by 10W 4-in-1 quad colour LED sources (RGBW), which allows the fixtures to create up to 13 different colours. Seb mounted the Quad Phases around the outer edges of the room, as the fixtures often produce the best effects when installed in a corner position. The lighting special effects line up was completed with two Martin Professional Atomic 3000 strobes, 12 PAR 64’s, four CO2 machines and a wind machine. There are two custom made LED screens at @Live, both are 10mm pitch. The outdoor screen measures 16 sq metres, while the indoor one is double the size at 32 sq metres. The content for the screens is also custom made to ensure the graphics work perfectly with the screen resolution. The screens are controlled by ArKaos MediaMas- ter software, which is run through a ChamSys MQ200 Pro console. Seb continued to explain the visual set-up: “A total of 12 LCD screen are installed in the VIP areas and display the [stage] show or video clips mixed by the DJ. In addition we installed three Sony remote controlled dome cameras. The cameras are mixed on an Edirol V8 then sent to MediaMaster via a Black Magic Intensity Pro HD [playback card]. The LED screens can then display the camera feed or the video mix.”

The ChamSys MQ200 Pro console not only controls the video, it also take care of the lighting too. Seb continued: “I specified the Cham- Sys MQ200 Pro 2010 to control the entire set-up, the console has been designed to control media servers, pixel mapping, and any light fixture or stage effect in a very friendly way.

“The operators had no experience in lighting or video but the instal- lation and ChamSys are very easy to use. I started with a bunch of cues that I created and encouraged them to do there own cues. ChamSys is very fun to use so the progress was quick and today all the lighting and video is programmed by them and is much bet- ter than when we started eight months ago.” Just one operator is required to control the entire system including the LED screens, the lighting fixtures and the special effects. By giving full cue controls to one person ensures that timing for cues is met, resulting in a flawless and homogeneity show night after night.

As a live venue, the sound system was required to be flexibly, and be able to handle a variety music types. The main PA comprises six L-Acoustics ARCS line array cabinets, flown in two clusters of three, left and right of the stage. Each of the 2-way active speakers are
