CONVERTERS & CONVEYING
Celebrating 15 years The award-winning Maxinest®
tray, manufactured by specialist
in plastic returnable transit packaging for the food, retail and manufacturing sectors LINPAC Allibert, is celebrating 15 years as, according to the company, the UK’s most popular grocery retail tray. With more than 18 million Maxinest®
trays sold in the
past two and half years alone, the container has become, says Linpac, universally accepted by supermarkets as the most popular choice for showcasing fresh produce, meat, fish and bakery items. The Maxinest®
tray was launched in 1995 to meet supermarket
demands to cut costs, reduce packaging waste and deliver greater efficiency in the supply chain. It now comes in 20 different varieties and is believed to represent a core part of produce merchandising for all the major supermarket chains. For more information call 0121 506 0100, email

Growing with UPM
UPM Conveyors have experienced a 25 per cent increase in sales during 2011, resulting in an expansion of their production area by 10,000 sq feet. This success, the company says, has been owed to the success of their all-plastic belt conveyor, which is produced from high molecular weight polyethelene (HMWP). The conveyor has in fact gained them the Queens Award for Innovation. According to the company, 2012 looks set to better even these milestones, with projects from major multinational companies being promised for worldwide applications, where UPM will except total responsibility for turn key projects operating to the agreed specification. For all of these projects, UPM offer a Performance Guarantee, allowing peace of mind for the customer. For more information call 01753 548801, email

Cereal cartoning
by Kliklok Kliklok will soon be installing an automatic bag- in-box cartoning line at a major health food company in Australia packing premium cereal products. Having already installed several cartoning lines for this customer at various factories, including New Zealand, Kliklok was chosen again to supply their popular SFR end load machine, this time integrated with a Bomb-Door Loading (BDL) system. The BDL incorporates a pneumatic oscillating product settling and conditioning system. Filled bags arrive on an inclined conveyor onto the bomb doors, an oscillating plate descends onto the bag and a pneumatic vibration unit applies pressure to condition the bagged product and facilitate automatic insertion into the carton. With over 60 models installed throughout the world, the SFR cartoner, says Kliklok, offers a short footprint, interactive colour touch screen, easy repeatable size, plus a variety of infeed options – for either hand loading, automatic product transfer, collating or stacking – providing tailor made solutions for improved productivity. With this flexibility, the SFR can also be reconfigured if production requirements change. For more information call 01275 836131, email
