The best of British
King’s Fine Foods are purveyors of luxury products such as caviar, smoked salmon, champagne, chocolates, handmade biscuits and hampers. When they were planning the launch of their British Rapeseed Oil and Apple Balsamic Dressing, they wanted a British company to manufacture the bottle and cap as the product is being used by British Airways’ in-flight catering service. M&H Plastics were chosen for the task, and a created new tooling specifically for the 12ml PET square bottle (Ref. 4172) with a 13mm screw cap, which is also an ideal size for picnics, and lunch boxes. Laura King, owner of King’s Fine Foods said: “We chose M&H because they are a British manufacturer with the capability to design and manufacture tooling in- house to our specific requirements. We selected PET as the clear material allows the product to be seen and the cap featured a tamper-evident label.” For more information call 01502 715518, email

Ready…Steady…Go!
SCA Packaging’s UK Industrial Division is pleased to announce the launch of its Ready 4 Use Octabin RFU, a design which allows the user to single handedly assemble the bin in seconds. The Ready 4 Use Octabin has been adopted by larger users of this type of container, typically with high speed or automated filling lines, but there are major advantages for the smaller user too, claims Martyn Reader, food & retail market manager. “As well as its rapid assembly, the RFU bin can be assembled by only one person, whereas most Octabins require two.” For more information call 01455 251 400, email

Robotic flexibility
Systems integrator and bespoke machine builder, Astech Projects, provides what they claim to be an array of innovative technology and custom services. Integrating equipment from major suppliers of commercial processing and packaging automation, Astech combined a Motoman SDA20D twin arm robot with a Festo Bionic Finn gripper to provide advanced flexibility. As a ‘human-like’ dual-arm robot, the
Motoman SDA20D has 15 axes of movement; seven per arm, plus a single axis for base rotation, enabling it to turn 360º. Both robotic arms can work together in the handling of heavy objects, or independent operations can be performed simultaneously. The Festo Bionic Fin gripper provides gentle gripping, and its versatile fingers adapt to shapes and contours. For more information call 01928 571797, email
