JEAN-PIERRE AND LUC DARDENNE THE KID WITH A BIKE (Le Gamin Au Vélo) Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne are admired for their naturalistic, resonant explorations of life in contemporary Belgium. The Kid With A Bike fi nds the duo on top form with a tale about a boy look- ing for his father and the woman who befriends him. “Filming a character who has someone else’s best interests at heart hasn’t often hap- pened to us,” says Jean-Pierre Dardenne. “Shoot- ing in the summer helped us give the film a certain brightness and softness.
