Heidi Daub '82 was in several exhibits this year in Maine, including Island Artisans in Bar Harbor, Tarratine Gallery in Castine, Schooner Gallery/ Contemporary Fine Art in Milbridge, and the Wandering one day show at the Red Barn in Yarmouth in June.

Jamie Greene '05 studied printmaking and art education at Montserrat and now has a position at The Baker Hall School, working with youth in grades 7-12.


Joshua Baptista '02 won the National Grid sponsored Fine Art of Recycling contest in Providence, RI for his creatively designed refrigerator after being selected to create an outdoor exhibit with other artists. The contest was designed to encourage saving energy and money by recycling old refrigerators and was on display through October.


Sean Calhoun '04 took part in two group shows for Troy’s Night Out at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy, NY in June.


Bea Modisett, "The White Mountains Remembered" Frances Ferro Carreiro: Sugar of Life


Montserrat celebrated the art and life of Frances Ferro Carreiro '01 in a solo exhibition of her drawings and paintings from Aug. 15 – Sept. 8. Carreiro described her work as "spiritual food" and that color was the "sugar of life."


Rob McLaughlin '07, director of residential life, and Jonathan Brown '11 collaborated with special effects make-up artists, Joseph Laskey, to create Frightful Acts: eerie, high quality silicone rubber masks. Canobie Lake Park bought eight masks to be worn by “Demons of the Park” characters that haunt the park during SCREEEMFEST every weekend in October. frightfulacts.com

In May, Margaurita Spear '09 presented a mosaic workshop at the North Shore Art Teachers Association meeting, taught four kindergarten classes at the Bell School’s Fine Arts Day in Marblehead, and volunteered at the Holy Family Church’s 3rd Annual Sacred Arts Show in Lynn, where she has been the art director for the past three years. In July, she returned for her third year at the Tower School’s summer program in Marblehead. Visit margauritaspear.blogspot.com.

Bea Modisett '07, manager of Studios at Porter Mill, exhibited her paintings in the 2011 Associate Member’s Exhibition at Kingston Gallery in Boston this summer. Bea has also been appointed to the Beverly Cultural Council. beamodisettstudio.com


Amy Brown '05 was featured in The Lowell Sun in a June story about her memories of 9-11 when she was a freshman at Montserrat. Brown now works as an art teacher in Framingham.


Robin and Allen Cockerline '73, owners of Whippoorwill Farm, Lakefield, CT, met at Montserrat, while students in the early ‘70s, and have been farming ever since. They are using ther art education in entrepreneurial ways. Their home renovations have been featured in several magazines: Hobby Farm, Cottage Style, Country Home, and Renovation Style, Robin has styled movie sets, renovated an old Inn in Falls Village, CT and provided art for a designer book. Allen was also featured been in the New York Times for a corn maze that he grew. The couple notes that "art and design has always been a part of our lives."
