With vibrant new programs and an important collaboration to fuel growth and connection to the community, Montserrat’s Continuing Education Division did much to reach new audiences this year.
Week-long, summer intensive workshops, offered in June by artistically diverse, accomplished regional and national artists, drew students of all levels to try new or different mediums or methods. A full 99% said they would return. "There was a lot of energy and stimulating discussion," one participant said. "The instructor was the soul of patience and respectful of all levels. This was a creative week…a gift of time."
A newly inked collaboration with the Greater North Shore YMCA in the form of an after-school arts program for children was also piloted this year, delivered through the Beverly Schools.
In addition to new programs, Continuing Education’s traditional evening and weekend courses and workshops remain a fixture for those looking to brush up or learn a new skill.
The summer Pre-College Program continues to give aspiring art students a taste of college. The rigorous program earns students three college credits. "It’s comprehensive, and you can get a lot out of it if you put a lot into it," said one student. l
