I want to start off by thanking Ashleigh Greason and everyone at REACH Huron for hosting our August 6 & 7 show. It was the first time that the WHAO was at the facility and it was also the first time that we have partnered with MWHS. Partnering with MWHS seemed to run very smoothly and hopefully we can continue the partnership for 2012.
REACH Huron is a beautiful facility and if you haven’t had the chance to show there yet, you should make a point of going. It is a shame that our members did not support this show. A lot of time and energy went in to putting the show on and to have the WHAO members not come out was not only disappointing, it was embarrassing. Is Clinton further away from the normal core of shows in the Golden Horseshoe? Yes, but that is why it was a two day show so that it was worth the drive. Hopefully, if REACH holds another show for us next year that it will be supported. Those of us that attended had a blast. Louise Harris had a great quote: “Having the casino next to the show grounds is like showing in Vegas!” We weren’t too lucky with the slots, but we had fun!
If you are looking for a place to hold a
show, clinic, or really anything to do with horses, consider REACH. They can accommodate almost anything that you can think of! At the end of August we travelled up to
Trout Creek. I am very happy to say that not only was the temperature quite enjoyable (low to mid 20’s), we didn’t get any rain! I think that is the first year. Mr & Mrs Ransom did a great job keeping the show running smoothly and the vol- unteers from the Trout Creek Ag. Society made us feel very welcome. Huge thank you to the Ransom’s, Taggarts and all that put that show on for us, we can’t wait for next year.
The Fall Fairs mark the busiest part of the WHAO show season. Thank you to the follow- ing fairs for hosting a WHAO show: • Orangeville • Harriston-Minto
• Niagara Regional Exhibition • Ancaster
• Norfolk County • Burford.
These fairs are the core of the WHAO and I hope that they are well attended.
