Tuesday night practices are the hilight of the week with anywhere from 10 to 15 horses participating regularly. Both pens are in use at the same time to accommodate the big turn out.


August 21 was our 4th show of the season and it seemed like more trailers than ever. The biggest classes were the Open and Novice Horse with 7 entries each. Again, we saw some really good runs in both the reined work and the cow work, but as always, when that cow enters the pen, they have the ability to `make you pretty humble,`says Craig.

The facilities to accommodate horses get better each year. Along with the recent water pump we also have a new paddock based near the Forest Centre so that riders can grab a bite at the canteen (on weekends) and use the public washrooms.


Our membership is a mixture of English and Western riders with a wide range of experience, from beginner to advanced. Orga- nized events are well marked and our priority is your safety. We usually have two groups to accommodate the more and less skilled enthusiasts. Single

Our FINALS SHOW will be held on September 18 and everyone is welcome to come for the Silent Auction, Annual General Meeting, awards presentations and BBQ. There is $1500 added money for this show - come on out and have fun!

Then anytime after 10:00 a.m. riders can depart in their own groups or if you prefer, the guided ride leaves at 10:30 a.m. for about two hours, depending on your pace. October 30th, 2011 – Hal- loween Ride (a new event if enough respond) - RSVP by October 1st to gfhc-1@live.ca. Departing from the Millbrook area there will be “Spook ride” in the East Forest followed by a costume competition. Prizes include “Best Rider costume”, “Best Horse costume” and “Best combined costume.” Further details will be provid- ed in September at www.gfhc.ca.
