World Class Performances at 2011 Quarterama Reining Extravaganza

LONDON, ON – Unlike the recent stock market “melt-down”, there was no “Fear Index” driving the competitors from across the US and eastern Canada attending the 2011 Quarterama Reining Extravaganza, held August 12th to 14th. Instead, visitors were treated to world class performances from World Champi- ons, National Reining Champions and World Title contenders during three days of riveting competition at the City of London’s indoor Agriplex.

When the dust settled, Dany Tremblay led the Quebec contingent with major victories in many of the feature competitions including the Open division of the $10,000 Majestic Horses International 3 yr old Futurity, riding “Sweet Major Valentine” for owner Daniel Bouchard. A native of St. Damase,

Quebec outside of Montreal, Trem- blay continued his trophy chase the following day, winning the presti- gious Open division of the Quar- terama Derby with “Great Red Chex” owned by MG Reiners. Competing for the first time at the event, Tremblay, a past Ameri- can Quarter Horse Congress Cham- pion, was enthusiastic about the event long before his victories, not- ing the “facility and the show man- agement were first-class all the way. Ian Millar Turns On Star Power at National Capital Show Jumping Tournaments

Heavy rains moved through the area just prior to the competition on Sun- day, August 21. As a result, seven riders elected not to start their horses on the grass field. Of the 16 that attempted the demand- ing track set by two-time Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela, only three hors- es jumped clear. Fortu- nately for Millar, two of those horses belonged to him.

Only the second rider on course, Millar produced
