From The Desk of the OQHA Queen

The Region 4 Regional Champi- onships was such a great opportunity, I was very proud to be representing Ontario as the OQHA Queen. Ontario exhibitors saw many successes includ- ing 5 Champion buckles, 5 Reserve Champions and many top 10 finishes. It was a great experience to meet some of the other queens that will be competing in the 2011 Congress Queen’s Competition and help present awards as an ambassador for Ontario. I also had the opportunity to meet many of the amazing people that organize the Regional Championships as well as the All American Quarter Horse Congress. There are definitely many hard working people involved in keep- ing both these shows running. It was great to see some familiar faces in Columbus there to lend a helping hand. I can’t wait to see all of the won- derful people I met, at the Congress in October.

AND WHEREAS concerns were brought forward by the Quarter Horse Racing Owners of Ontario Inc. (QROOI) and other participants in the Quarter Horse Racing community regarding misuse of the therapeutic drug clenbuterol;

AND WHEREAS the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) responded to this concern by working with the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA) to develop an agreement to allow for enhanced test- ing of samples;

I would like to send out a very special THANK YOU to Jenny and Siica Denhartog who made it possible for me to attend the Regional Championship as the OQHA Queen. Thanks again for taking care of me.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, good luck at the fall futurities, and hope- fully I’ll see all of you at Congress which is fast approaching!

AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT any sample where clenbuterol is detected at a level of 200 pg/ml or ore in urine, and/or 1-2 pg/ml or more in blood, will be deemed to be a violation of the Rules of Thoroughbred Racing 2009 and the Rac-

The request to return the horse shall be made in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 12.32 of the Rules of Thorough- bred Racing. If the horse is not returned, the new owner will be required to provide the negative test result prior to entering the horse to race.
