that’s ENTERTAINMENT
SALTIMBANCO spectacle selling fast
IF you haven’t decided whether to see one of the most spectacular performances in the world, then make the decision quickly, because Saltimbanco is selling out. Saltimbanco will open in Newcastle on July 20
at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre. Saltimbanco, from the Italian “saltare in banco”
which literally means to jump on a bench, is the show which started Australia’s love aff air with Cirque du Soleil when the internationally acclaimed entertainment company fi rst toured here in 1999. This will be the fi rst time Cirque du Soleil has visited Newcastle. Originally directed by Franco Dragone,
Saltimbanco features an international cast of more
than 50 performers and musicians from more than 20 diff erent countries. Set inside an imaginary metropolis of colourful
inhabitants, Saltimbanco features breathtaking acrobatics and unbelievable athleticism during solo spotlights and epic ensembles. Decidedly baroque in its visual vocabulary,
the show’s eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world where diversity is a cause for hope. Technical expertise and extravagant design are woven together with spectacular costumes, amazing lighting, humour, and enchanting live music. Overfl owing with colour, amusement and amazement, Saltimbanco is a fun show for the whole family to enjoy.

Be enchanted by the sirens WILSON GETS
excess to all areas
LOCK up your daughters and leave your sense of political correctness at the door. The man Billy Connolly calls “the world’s
funniest Australian”, is heading into town for the fi rst time in a long time with his new Excess All Areas tour. For more than 20 years, Kevin Bloody
Wilson has been responsible for making more people kill themselves laughing, and he’s headed back to town armed with some great new songs and, of course, the old classics that have made him the comedy legend that he is. Wilson’s been a busy boy lately, writing lots of new songs and hanging out at home, where he has been updating his MySpace and Facebook pages and recording exclusive behind the scenes videos for his fans and posting them at
kevinbloodywilson.com. The internet has transformed the
way artists like Kevin Bloody Wilson can communicate with their audience and he has always kept up with the changes in technology because he loves fi nding new ways of keeping in touch with his fans. But, if you want to experience the real
deal, step away from your computer and head out on the town for one of the funniest nights out of your life and experience Kevin Bloody Wilson live. He
will be performing at Cardiff Panthers on Wednesday, August 10.
