Hailing from the hills and valleys of


northern NSW, Loren truly shines in live performance, captivating audiences with his sublime voice and energy. Loren also has quite an eclectic style that spans the genres of folk, reggae, pop and roots. The singer has also sold more than 10,000 albums independently, received national airplay and played with some of Australia’s best-known musicians, including Dan Sultan, Lior, Kate Miller Heidke, John Butler and Bernard Fanning. bouncy, eclectic journey of songs that together paint a story of yearning, surrender and appreciation of both the simplicity and complexity of life. Taking plenty of time in every part of the recording process has resulted in a strength and cohesiveness in the album’s songs, a palpable synergy in the playing and a depth of creativity in the production. Loren’s music connects people of all ages and stages in life, and his commitment to grassroots gigs had him performing relentlessly for the past eight years, creating a groundswell of support across the country. Loren has more than 45 festival


appearances to his name and has conducted more than 15 national tours of Australia and two of New Zealand, as well as Canada and the US. Catch Loren at the Northern Star Hotel,

SHANE Nicholson has released Bad Machines, his fourth solo album. Music critics have been unanimous in their


praise of Nicholson, many citing the depth of his songs and the extent of his honest and emotional vocal delivery as his hallmark. In recent times, there is no doubt at all that he has created a unique musical place for himself.


A native of Brisbane, Nicholson fi rst gained


public attention as the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band Pretty Violet Stain in the late 1990s.


Since then, he has released three solo


albums – It’s a Movie, Faith and Science and the ARIA-nominated Familiar Ghosts in 2008. Nicholson met Kasey Chambers when she sang some featured backing vocals on

the lead single from It’s a Movie, and in time the two would marry and go on to record the highly acclaimed, number one album Rattlin’ Bones, winning best country album at the 2008 ARIA awards, and scoring fi ve Golden Guitar awards in 2009, with the album ultimately achieving platinum-plus sales. The couple launched their Little Birds and Bad Machines joint tour in April and they’ve been touring nationally since. Nicholson will also headline a series


of his own headline shows, including two main stage appearances at this year’s Gympie Muster. He will be playing at Lizotte’s Newcastle on Sunday, August 14.
