Banks and large corporations are surviving as they have deep pockets and multiple venues of support. They can hold out longer when customers scale back their purchasing. Not the case for small businesses, though.


Small Businesses Closing Their Doors


Over the summer more small businesses closed after holding out for 18+ months. It wouldn’t be a

surprise to see more close this fall. With unemployment holding steady, if not increasing, few people have money to spend, and where will their money go? Banks and Mortgage companies (for mortgages and rent), utilities (Duke, Piedmont Gas, Water), Gas for cars (Gasoline companies) – all BIG firms. Plus we all HAVE to pay taxes to our government.


Loans mean more debt There was talk about offering small businesses loans, but that would only leave small businesses with more money to pay back later. Small business owners don’t want more debt. When becoming a small owner, one of my biggest surprises was how much we were required to pay on any money earned, and then at the end of the year, we paid taxes on the money we had again.
