than self with a little letter. My “stupid white gyrl” self, my local, day-to-day self, is pretty smart. She gets the job done and the taxes paid, but she is often too busy or too preoccupied to listen to that “small, still voice” of inner wisdom.

help us understand how to keep ourselves (and ourSelves) healthy and poised for longevity.
Inner wisdom is always there, hum- ming along inside us. Inner wisdom communicates best and is most available to us when we are in a relationship with Self. Self with a capital letter is larger, broader, deeper, wider, and more sensitive
Self is alert to everything going on inside as well as outside. It all con- cerns Self. That Self is like a granny who sits spinning in the center of the room. She observes everything that is said, every look, each move- ment, the`passage of time, the quality of our sleep, the food we eat, our aversions and attractions. She knows our state of health. She monitors our organs like a gardener judging the ripeness of a tomato. She is the inner wisdom of our being. She is the watch person. She is the guardian. She watches all the monitors. She monitors all the gauges. She is usually in the background, looking and listening, but She sets off alarms if needed.
Inner wisdom tells the truth; it is rarely polite. Inner wisdom is there for me, not for others, though I can ask my inner wisdom to help me with others. Inner wisdom is shock- ingly symbolic and dramatically attention-getting, when needed. But most of the time, it is shy, mysterious, vague and ethereal. Like a prophesy, your inner wisdom may seem to speak in riddles and innuendoes.
Where does inner wisdom live? Intuition lives in the belly: It is gut reaction, butterflies in the stomach. But where shall we look for wis- dom? If you are a modern Ameri- can, you probably envision wisdom as residing in the brain. If you are more of a New Age type, you may

place wisdom in the heart, which does have memory synapses just like the ones in the brain. As for me, however, I think inner wisdom lives in the gonads. I look for it in the ovaries and the testes.
Our germ cells – ova and sperm – are storehouses of Ancestral stories. They carry the wisdom of the generations before us. They carry our wisdom into future gen- erations. (To swear to something is to testify. A man used to testify with his testicles in hand!) The ovaries are baskets of wisdom; the testicles are the training ground for the maturing sperm. They are the wisdom keepers.
Inner wisdom is enormous; it is frightening in its intensity. It is a tsunami, a glacier, one clear note vibrating at the edge of audible, ultraviolet, infrared. Approach with care. Approach with open arms. Your inner wisdom is you; embrace yourself.
Green blessings.
