LACONIA – WARD 2 GENERAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 2, 2010

SECRETARY OF STATE

by Brendan Smith Weirs Times Editor

Election Day 2010 is only a few days away. Soon a significant event

will take place around the country.

No more political ads! There’s been so many

of the darned things on television for the past months, pushing aside other commercials, that I’ve forgotten what kind of things I need to buy in order to make me happy. I f you’ve noticed, I

haven’t had many political ads on radio or television. In fact, I’ve had none. Not enough funds in the war chest to produce one let alone have it replay 10,000 times a day. Still, I am a candidate for Governor of New Hamp- shire running under the Flatlander ticket. You won’t see my name

on the ballot, though. You’ll have to write in my name. I do appreciate your

vote. Just make sure you spell my name correctly. If you’re with me and

you want as badly as me to “Flush These Three Johns” (John Lynch, John Stephen and John Babi- ariz) all our hard work in getting the message out will be lost if you screw up the name. Remember, it’s Brenda with an “n.” A lot of people get my

name wrong and spell it “Brandon.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that name. It’s just that there are a few Bran- don Smiths in New Hamp- shire and I’d hate to have one of them, or all of them for that matter, to wake up on November 3rd and find out they’ve been elected governor. After all, not ev- eryone wants the job. I’m doing my best to get the message out there

but, as I’ve said, limited funds have had me come up with unique methods for getting voters to re- member how to spell my name correctly. I do have people willing

to stand at intersections, holding signs for me and waving at passing motor- ists. But, having no signs they just stand there and yell “It’s Brenda with an ‘n’.” Being late October not many people are driv- ing with their windows open so the message isn’t getting out there quite as much as I’d hoped. Still, I appreciate my volunteers’ time. We have been using the
