As we were nearing the Liberty’s summit we ran into a long line of hikers. We asked if they met Phyllis the choc- olate lady and indeed they had. She had joined the group of 22 hikers helping Al from Jackson, NH, cel- ebrate his completing the Grid (the ultimate 4,000 footer list—hiking all 48 mountains in each month of the year). After lots of laughter and introduc- tions she explained that they had invited her to summit Flume with them and hike down the Osseo Trail to Lincoln. They even threw in a tailgate party and a ride back to her car! She easily gave away all
