20 That Hope & Change

To The Editor: Now that we have had

the once in a life time ex- perience of two years of “Hope & Change” and “Yes We Can,” come Tuesday November 2nd all vot- ers in New Hampshire will have an opportunity to voice their individual opinion on how things may have changed. Frankly, the concept is

rather simple; “Are you and your family better off today than you were in November 2nd 2008” ? If you can look in the mir- ror and honestly say Yes I would encourage you to go to the polls on No- vember 2nd and vote for those same people who have served your needs, created this climate of to- day and I am sure those presently in office will never disappoint you with more of the same. On the other hand, with a bit of reflection, if you must say NO to this question then I also would also encourage you to go to the polls on November 2nd and vote those “Hope & Change” folks into a nice quick and comfortable retirement as soon as possible. Look- ing back at the Prophet of 2008, He was able to win a chance to serve and lead and many have followed. Now in 2010, we the vot-

ers get a chance to grade the accomplishments or failures as we see them by voting. Either way, Let’s vote for some of that new “2010 Hope & Change” that could actually work.

Obamacare?

To the Editor: I am sick and tired of politicians calling the new American health care plan Obama Care. The Presi- dent, along with all our public servants in Con- gress, all have excellent health care programs- they are all set! I suggest we start naming the plan after those to whom it re- ally matters. In my case it would be Sylvia Care, my partner who was de- nied medical insurance coverage because she had preexisting, yet in full re- mission, cancer. Or Phil Care, or Matt

Care, my adult sons who have been self employed and could not get access to affordable health care in- surance even though they are in excellent health. I’m sure this same case applies broadly to our citi- zenry and I feel strongly that all Americans should have access to afford- able health insurance.

So, I say to all the politi- cians who have excellent health care insurance themselves, stop talking about a repeal of this critical program!! For example, Republican

candidates Kelly Ayotte and Frank Guinta want to repeal the health-care reform bill and I believe this would be a tragedy to millions of Americans. As part of their agenda, these politicians spread and repeat misinformation about how much the bill is costing. But the neutral, non-partisan Congres- sional Budget Office has said in study after study that health-care reform will save the government money. In fact, if health- care reform is repealed, it could increase deficits by more than $400 billion over 10 years. But both Ayotte and Guinta want to repeal this bill, and then claim at the same time that repealing it will somehow save money. Again, this would be a tragedy. So, let s support our fel-

low Americans and vote for those candidates, Car- ol Shea-Porter for Con- gress and Paul Hodes for US Senate, who will sup- port our health and well being!

Sustain Ability There Is A Choice

To The Editor: The most disheartening

thing I have heard while campaigning for State Rep in Andover, Salisbury, Northfield, Boscawen, Canterbury and Loudon is this, “It makes no dif- ference, all politicians are alike.” I shake my head and

say, “That’s why you need to elect someone who doesn’t want this to be a career path. Someone who doesn’t dream of be- ing a politician. Someone who has run a business, paid quarterly taxes, and thinks New Hampshire was better off BEFORE those currently in office took over 4 years ago. Someone who will serve his time and go back to his chosen career. Someone like ME, for instance.” I may say all that on the outside, but on the inside I’m horrified. I need to say, “There really is a choice in this election. We can choose to burden our children with unbear- able debt and reduce their prospects, or we can elect a new group of represen- tatives who will respect your tax dollars and force the state to live within our means.” Those folks running

things in Concord have raised the state budget 24%. Did your income go up 24 % to keep pace?

They have borrowed from our children and grand- children to pay for more and more state spending instead of actually reduc- ing spending as the ma- jority of other states have done. They borrowed not only for current programs but even went so far as to borrow to pay the inter- est payment on what was borrowed the prior years. Finally, adding insult to injury, our current repre- sentatives increased taxes on us, by my count, 100 times. Are we not still in a recession? I know I have plenty of “ forced sale” signs on my street. Have any of you registered your car lately? I’m concerned by what has happened in the past 4 years, it’s true. But what really concerns me is what is to come in the next budget cycle, and beyond, if we don’t act now. In our district, we have

4 very good conservatives asking for your vote. Con- servatives who are NOT the same as the politi- cians that have pushed our State into a very bad economic position. Please look for us on the bal- lot. Jenn Coffey, Seth Cohn, Ken Kreis, and me, Greg Hill. We, very much, would appreciate your vote November 2nd.
