OUR STORY

The Puzzler Page .... The Funnies .......

One of the most remarkable features of the publication was a map of Lake Winnipesaukee which occupied the center spread of the paper. Readers will find the same map reprinted on the center pages of this, and every issue.

The new Weirs Times was re-established in 1992 and strives to maintain the patriotic spirit of its predecessor as well as his devotion to the interests of Lake Winnipesaukee and vicinity.

Locally owned for over 17 years, this publication is devoted to printing the stories of the people and places that make New Hampshire the best place in the world to live. No, none of the daily grind news will be found in these pages, just the good stuff.

there are holding them- selves above the political fray, ignoring the fact that American citizens are meant to be the true leaders of our republic? Our representational form of government will only work when citizens edu- cate themselves about issues, carefully follow what elected officials are doing and fire those ca- reer politicians who reject our constitution and val- ues and attempt to rule over us. face to face I’d have bet- ter results encouraging voter participation. Go- ing door to door in Salem with a list of registered independent voters, I was encouraged to find some informed voters vowing they would be at the polls. I also found several who were not registered and

one needing an absentee ballot. (In New Hamp- shire, voters can register the day of the election. But they must present proof of citizenship and, if naturalized citizens, they will need the document showing the date they be- came U.S. citizens.) Town clerks have the applica- tions for absentee ballots and encourage voters to turn them ASAP. My last contact in Salem

was a gentleman who an- nounced, “I haven’t voted since Ross Perot.” I was tempted to fire back, “Vote this time. It might be your last chance!” Instead, I inquired if he had chil- dren and grandchildren. He nodded. “Then, vote,” I urged, “as if their lives as free boys and girls, men and women depend upon it.” Because my compla- cent, apathetic, can’t- be-bothered-to-vote fel- low citizens the quality of those lives depends upon the choices we make this November 2. New Hampshire At Crossroads

To The Editor: On November 2nd, Elec-

tion Day, we will have a clear choice as to which road to take at this criti- cal time in our state’s history. The question is, do we

want to take the same old road that Governor Lynch and the major- ity controlled Democrats have led us down for the last six years, which are higher taxes and fees, added regulations, more spending of your hard earned money, while con- tinuing to increase the size of government and ignoring our New Hamp- shire constitution? Or do we want to consider a new road that will lead us in a new direction, and put a halt to the out of control spending, reduce taxes and fees, stop the insane See MAIL BOAT on 12
