BELMONT MAN DONATES GAMES TO THE AMERICAN CLASSIC ARCADE MUSEUM AT FUNSPOT
by Victor Westerling Belmont, NH.
Victor Westerling re- cently donated Colecovi- son games and the Adam Computer System to the American Classic Arcade Museum at Funspot.
I, like many other kids
that grew up in the 70’s and early 80’s, enjoyed playing arcade games. It was the coolest thing to be able to play those games at home. I saw others have the
Atari’s, Intellevision’s, and Commodore’s, but when the ColecoVision came out, I was blown away. Here was a console that looked like, sounded like, and played like the arcade games. Donkey Kong will always be my favorite, but a close sec- ond and third are Mouse Trap and BurgerTime. As I became a teenager in the early 80’s, my friends would start to get the Nintendo consoles, but I still hung on to my old favorite. In fact, it wasn’t until
1997, that I broke down and bought a SNES, but I still loved turning on the ColecoVision. During Jr. High and
High School, my com- puter was the ADAM. It was bought back in 1984- 85. It too was unique. It was basically a word processor that you could also play the ColecoVi- sion games with all the

many memories with these systems and that is why I have kept them in such good condition. My wife had asked me to put my collection on eBay, but I refused be- cause it was like selling off part of my childhood. They meant enough to me, that I brought them to NH from their origi-

nal home in Salinas, CA. So, now I am pushing 40, and my kids are into the Wii and Facebook games, I thought that the best place to keep these memories and ensure that they will be well kept was to donate them to the American Classic Arcade Museum at Fun Spot. So it is a bittersweet
moment for me to part with my games and “first” computer, but at least they will still be close. Besides, what a better home than the worlds largest classic arcade game museum?
