Ride For A Cause... Ride For Luke The one thing that touches us all equally is to sit by and
watch helplessly as a child deals with illness, whether it’s the flu, or a life threatening disease like cystic fibrosis (CF). Patients with CF require constant medications and frequent hospitalizations. Lucas Hurd’s family in Meredith is all too familiar with the
costs involved - much too familiar for a little boy who just turned one year old on July 30th. In an effort to cope with some of the expenses, Luke’s friends and family are holding “Luke’s Motorcycle Ride around Lake Winnipesaukee” for Cystic Fibrosis on Saturday, September 18th. The ride will depart from The Mug Restaurant in Center Harbor at 10:30 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m. There is a $20 registration fee, but riders are encouraged to get additional sponsors and donations as well. The bikers will return afterwards to enjoy great food and entertainment, as well as have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets and be eligible for other prizes. Donations can also be made to the Lucas Hurd Medical
Fund at any Meredith Village Savings Bank or mailed to P.O. Box 1090, Meredith, NH 03253

Cambridge Footlights At Capitol Center
Cambridge Footlights has been the staring point for many
British actors and comedians, and they will bring their unique sense of “humour” to the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord for one night, Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:30pm. The Cambridge Footlights are to British comedy what Sec-
ond City and Chicago City Limits are to American comedy. The 127-year-old Cambridge Footlights started the careers of such stars as Hugh Laurie, Sir Ian McKellen, Rachel Weiss, John Cleese, Emma Thompson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Doug- las Adams, Sir Derek Jacobi, Sam Mendes and many others. This is also the theatre group that launched Monty Python, Beyond the Fringe, and Borat as well. The Cambridge University Footlights Dramatic Club,
founded in 1883 and called the Footlights, is still an amateur theatrical club in Cambridge, England. It is run by students at Cambridge University as well as Anglia Ruskin University. In the 1960s it become a hotbed of comedy and satire, based on its mixture of sketches and stand-up comedy. In addition, the Capitol Center will host two performances of Monty Python’s Spamalot on October 6 and 7, 2010. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by phone
at (603) 225-1111, online at
ccanh.com or at the box office during regular business hours, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 11am-6pm and Saturday, 11am-2pm.
