recorded the acquisition of land from Andover, Sanbornton, Salisbury and Northfield this way: . . . the movement to


merge the four towns was initiated in the 1820’s. By 1823 Ebenezer took the first steps initiat- ing a petition to the four towns, Salisbury, An- dover, Sanbornton and Northfield. This move- ment was slowed down by challenges, but with a new petition, the Legisla- ture granted the charter December 24, 1828. Whatever took place to


resolve the challenges not listed in either history, it would be necessary for both towns to be involved See WEBSTER on 43
