You probably have worked out that there is a connection between two jewelry

stores - Libido (Jl Raya Seminyak) & Street Dogs with JuJu (Jl Laksmana) & now there is, Folkart Gallery for Ceremonial Decoration on (Jl Oberoi) yes, all

three fall under the umbrella of CV Yogi & certainly do carry a distinctive range of merchandise - ethnic jewelry, ceremonial pieces & antique objets from all over South East Asia. Now, all three stores, particularly Folkart Gallery, require time for browsing, there is an absolute abundance of product to inspect, it’s like opening up a giant trunk full of exciting treasures to admire, touch & desire, bet you don’t get outside of the store without buying just a few items, it’s very hard to resist!

Recently had a bit of a problem in fi nding the right store to fi x a handbag of mine, then remembered the little gem called AURA on Jl Laksmana, Seminyak (across the road from Villa Jodie) the bag was fi xed in two days fl at. This store is almost bursting with leather goods, shoes, bags & jackets, most though are made to measure, so choose your style/color & let AURA produce a quality product & fast! The guys instore are friendly, effi cient, & understanding of English is good too.

DOM@HOME by DISINI – A Study in French Style!

Many of you know Disini, the tres chic boutique on Jl Raya Seminyak, just down a bit from Café Moka, Seminyak, It’s a shop that is on many a shopping list for homewares & usually decked out in white, off white, crème, café au lait, biscuit with touches of color. It’s a homeware space that carries other bits like jewelry, some bags & objets, all stylish & a little bit different.

Now, Dominique Seguin is the ‘very French & stylish owner’ of Disini & has

just re-opened her original store, situated on Jl Merthanadi (this is the road that runs up & alongside the infamous Bali jail) it’s the road that you turn right off Sun- set Rd, before you arrive at the T junction of Jl Kerobokan.

DOM@HOME, well, what can I say, but this store is the epitome of French! It’s fabulous, gorgeous, chic, stylish & full of color. Even if you are an ‘all white’

gal, you will have to admire these colorful settings & just perhaps, you may take a chance, & start introducing a bit of color here & there in your home.

Dominique is an Interior Stylist with a discerning eye. She sources furniture & other items & pulls it all together with the most luscious home furnishings that she has designed & manufactured, all in small boutique quantities. Styling is a skill & its Dominique’s forte & takes imagination, however, if this is a skill that you lack, of course it’s perfectly okay to ask her for some ‘professional’ assistance, be it your home, a resort villa complex or boutique hotel.

Back to DOM@HOME, I suppose it’s the entire way that all product has been ‘pulled together’ from, Indonesian antique furniture that act as ‘props’ for the new style home pieces, from fabric, cushions, carpets, towels & lights. And all is styled,

that will surely inspire, it’s a grand mix of color & pattern that ‘play together’,

it’s the clever art of mixing pieces, that one wouldn’t even think of doing, but in today’s world of interiors & fashion, everything & anything now goes!

The antique furniture instore is for sale & one- of-a-kind (all from Java, & looks very similar to

French/Italian country style) large style wall cabinets with glass doors, tables & chairs, day beds & sofas, all featuring original paint-

work & detail. Of course it’s most fashionable (always has been) to mix different furniture styles together & it’s the same for your home.

Just study the combinations set up instore of mattress & cushions, saucy patterns & colors that are just terrifi c. It’s the way the French country style soft furnishings have been matched with silver sequin hanging lamps & place mats on the table.

Woven textiles featuring patterns with fringing & velvet trim. The fl oor mats have been hand loomed, comprising of hundreds of tiny rolled fabric pieces, all stitched together, a mat that is unique, they almost look ‘silk Persian’!

Such comfy bed covers & quilts, mostly fl oral patterns & color ways, display-

ing all the new season summer shades of forest/avocado, aubergine/lilac &

pinks, along with shades of honey/mustard. Cushions in many sizes & fabric

combinations, this is where you can be adventurous, purchase off the shelf or have some made to suit your home interiors.
